Essay Writing Course: Grades 6 - 12
In each video lesson, Greg walks students step-by-step through the full writing process—from reading a story, article, or argument, to identifying the theme or main idea (or forming an opinion to support an argument), and then turning those ideas into a clear essay, sentence-by-sentence. Students don’t just see the final product; they see the thinking behind it. It’s the closest thing to having a writing teacher in your living room.
Once students see the process modeled, it begins to make sense. They then practice what they’ve learned in their workbook, using the Baran Method textbook as a guide. Students write, revise, and build confidence, while you use the teacher edition to support instruction and check their work. The videos clearly walk you through each step, so you always know what to do next.
As students build confidence and skill, they’re ready to tackle more complex essays and write independently with clarity and purpose.
This course is recommended for grades 6–12 and beyond. Students should be comfortable writing a Baran Method paragraph before beginning the essay course. Students in grades 2–5 should focus first on becoming confident, capable paragraph writers.
