Hi, I’m Greg.
If there’s one skill that helps shape a child’s future, it’s the ability to write clearly.
Years ago, when I first started teaching, I quickly realized that many students struggled with writing—not because they lacked ideas, but because they didn’t know how to organize those ideas clearly on the page. At the time, I was teaching both college students and at-risk teens, and I saw the same problem in both groups. Many were intelligent, creative, and thoughtful, yet they often felt frustrated trying to turn their ideas into clear writing.
To help my students, I created a simple color-coded visual aid that showed them where their ideas belong on the page. Almost immediately, writing became less confusing and more manageable. Students grew more confident because they finally had a clear structure to follow.
As my students improved, other teachers began asking about the method. I wanted to create something practical and easy to use, so I broke the system down into clear, step-by-step instruction that teachers and parents could confidently apply. Before long, educators from elementary through high school were using the method to help struggling writers become more organized, confident, and successful.
Today, The Baran Method has grown into a complete writing system that combines instruction, curriculum, and guided practice. The goal has always remained the same: help kids organize their thinking so they can communicate clearly in writing and in life.
It doesn’t take a complicated program or years of training to become a confident writing teacher. With the right structure and support, writing becomes clearer, more manageable, and far less frustrating for both kids and adults.
Happy Writing,
Greg Baran
